Welcome to ARE's Counseling Program

Hello, I am Chad Waldman, the school psychologist/counselor at Alberta Rider Elementary.  I am extremely excited to work as the school counselor at this exceptional school. It is my goal to support and facilitate the success and growth of all students as they develop into capable members of their communities.  I am available to help you and your child have a successful school year. 

As a school counselor, I work with parents and students through many different programs and services.  Each service is aimed to help children learn and develop to their highest potential. The following is an overview of services I provide to serve and support our students:

• Individual and Small Group Work with Students:  My door is always open to students who need help adjusting to  school, dealing with specific problems, or simply someone to talk with. I provide a safe and comfortable environment  where students can share their thoughts and feelings. I assist students in learning how to express themselves and their needs in respectful and appropriate ways.
  

• Parent/Staff Collaboration: I consult with parents and staff regarding the best interests of our students. If you would like to meet with me, please call to set up an appointment.

• Psychological Support: I am the practicing school psychologist at Alberta Rider Elementary, as well.  As the school psychologist I work with parents and staff regarding students with disabilities. I collaborate with others to develop effective programs to support students academically, socially, and behaviorally both at home and in the classroom.

• Connections to Agencies: I work collaboratively with community personnel to connect families to resources such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, holiday assistance, and mental health resources.

• School-wide Positive Behavior Plan: I work with staff to implement a school-wide positive behavior plan, including skill building curriculum, that encourages students to act in ways that demonstrate kind, responsible, and safe behaviors.
