I know all that have email have internet, but perhaps some of you with internet, don't have email. Anyway, here's homework: Reading is 30 minutes – focus on book report. Math is the homework and remembering pages 247 and 248. Spelling – finish the packet. Writing – persuasion is all around us. Have a good evening. Helen

Homework tonight: Spelling page 143 – need dictionary; math – finish pages from yesterday’s lesson both workbook and homework and remembering; reading is 20 minutes + half aloud/1 sentence summary in planner. Thanks, Helen
PS: There was a mapping assignment for the midwest quiz given in class today. Many students did not complete the assignment and are finishing it at home. It is not to replace any of their assigned homework. They had plenty of time to write the 12 states of the Midwest in the order they occur on the map, 4 times. Thanks again, HC

Homework tonight is saxon math - the pages having to do with measurement units of length - students need to find items that are approximately the same size as the smaller units of measure. The next 2 pages have to do with area. We have worked on both of these math strands. Remind them area is a multiplication problem and involves square units of measure. Spelling is to study for their spelling test. Journal is to write a minimum of 2 paragraphs about not having electronics for the week - which includes the weekend. We have spent a lot of time writing. Please monitor what your child is doing and set the bar high: 2 paragraphs, 5 sentences/paragraph should be your minimum expectation. They can lament and plan for the first day back on power sourced entertainment. They can get focused on some other aspect of their life - perhaps appreciating the time to do something more thoroughly. This is a spring board for an on demand persuasive writing piece.

No regular homework but they did bring home a little instruction sheet for making hominy. I cup corn to a quart of water with a tablespoon of baking soda. Boil for 10 minutes and then let soak overnight. This replaces the simmer for 3 hours - should work just as well. Enjoy!! Send any extras to class for others to see. thanks, Helen

Basically there is no homework. But, they do have to predict how the Chambers' force of nature will act upon the rock sedimentation (slivered, pounded, peeled, etc. crayon pieces they "eroded" today). Have a great weekend. HC
