Dear Parents

 Welcome to the world of Kindergarten!  There are so many new things for these little ones to learn:  how to walk in a line, classroom expectations, playground rules . . . even how to use the paper towel dispenser!  My heart goes out to them as they combine reasoning skills and good manners to cope with all of the uncertainties and situations they encounter.  But before we know it, they'll be "old-timers."

 By letting your child do things on their own, you are showing that you have confidence in them.  You are also helping them gain the self-confidence they need to succeed.  A child who is well-rested, has a nutritious breakfast, and a happy send-off is ready to begin the day in a positive way.

 Please check your child's backpack for papers daily and offer words of encouragement on their "wonderful projects."  One of the best homework activities that I can recommend is READING TO YOUR CHILD.  It builds an awareness of letters, letter sounds, sight word recognition and lengthens the attention span.
