Note: Grade levels noted for programs reflect the grade levels at which TTSD uses the curriculum. Actual levels offered by the publisher may vary.
Core Programs:
- MacMillan (K-5) is comprehensive program that includes phonemic awareness activities, phonics, fluency practice, vocabulary, comprehension strategies, spelling and grammar instruction. MacMillan has 3 levels per grade, approaching, on, and beyond. In 1st-5th grades in TTSD, MacMillan is a 90 minute block, at least 45 minutes are skill-grouped.
- Success For All (K-1) comprehensive program that includes the Big 5 and requires 90 minutes of skill-grouped instruction; skills are assessed every eight weeks and students are regrouped based on assessment results
- Reading Mastery (2-5) used as core in some cases direct instruction program that includes phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension strategies
- Intervention Programs:
- Language for Learning/Language for Thinking (K-2) direct instruction program focusing on academic language and vocabulary development
- Phonemic Awareness in Young Children (K) activity based, phonemic awareness through phoneme segmentation
- Earobics (K) Interactive games that help students develop auditory and listening skills
- Daisy Castle (K) develops phonological skills through game format
- Early Reading Intervention (K-1) formerly called Optimize phonological awareness and alphabetic understanding, word reading, sentence reading, writing and spelling reinforcement
- Phonics for Reading (1-5) direct instruction in phonics, word recognition, story reading and spelling in three levels
- SFA tutoring (1) students are assessed in phonemic awareness, concepts of print, sounds, sight words, blending, words with endings, multisyllabic words, fluency and comprehension of narrative & expository text, this is used to develop a daily plan focusing on missing skills; students practice these skills in the context of the current story in their reading class. Students are reassessed every four weeks to develop a new plan.
Fast Track Phonics (K-1) explicit, sequential phonological awareness and phonics program from SFA. Can be taught as part of the 90 min. SFA core program, or as a stand-alone intervention.
Triumphs (1-5) comprehensive, explicit program for use as a skill-group or intervention. Designed to be used in conjunction with MacMillan Treasures, two grade levels below.- Reading Success (3-5) direct instruction program teaching basic word recognition (phonics, blending, sight words), fluency (oral and silent reading rates), comprehension (emphasis on higher order thinking skills and metacognitive strategies), writing skills (mechanical and compositional)
- STARS (2-5) comprehension program teaching main idea, recall, sequencing, cause and effect, predictions, word meaning, making inferences, comparing and contrasting, author’s purpose, and summarizing
- Horizons (2-4) direct instruction program that applies letter-sound relationships to reading and spelling, explicitly teaches text comprehension
- Reading Mastery (1-5) direct instruction program that includes phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension strategies
- Read Naturally (2-5) fluency building program that uses teacher modeling (taped stories), repeated reading and progress monitoring, also has computer version
- Great Leaps (4-5) fluency program that includes phonics, phrases and connected text reading
- Corrective Reading-Decoding (4-5) direct instruction for students having difficulty with reading accurately and fluently; leveled program that progresses from sounds and blending to reading expository passages
- Corrective Reading-Comprehension (4-5) direct instruction for students who are adequate decoders but struggle with comprehension; three levels available-thinking basics, comprehension skills, concept application; lessons incorporate information from content areas
- REWARDS (4-5) 20 lesson program that teaches students to decode multisyllabic words and to read content area passages more accurately and fluently
