the WILDCAT CHAT
A message from our Principal, Mrs. Hennelly…….
The TTSD Foundation is holding it’s annual Fund Drive this month. The Foundation helps our district in many ways. Each year the Foundation donates an impressive amount of money to our schools to help educate our students. This year CFT received $9,000! The Foundation is hoping to receive enough donations that they can give each school $10,000 for the next school year. At CFT, we will use those funds to set up the “Wildcat Den”, a place were students can come twice a week to work on homework, listen to Read-A-Louds, and attend enrichment presentations….with transportation home!
To do our part and help the Foundation raise funds, CFT will be hosting a COIN DRIVE beginning February 14 and running through February 29th. Watch for incentives throughout the two weeks to help us reach our goal of $2,000. We will kick off the Coin Drive on February 14 with our first incentive…each student bringing in a donation on Valentines Day will be given a Valentine Treat! Thank you for your help with our COIN DRIVE…any amount you can donate, no matter how big or small, will help us reach us goal!
A DATE FOR YOUR CALENDAR…..calling all third, fourth, and fifth grade parents and guardians. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 6th, 6:00-7:00. We will be having an Internet Night at CFT. Our School Resource Officer, Officer Glen Scroggs will be opening the night with information and tips to keep our children safe on the internet. As you know, we have been having trouble with Cyber Bullying at CFT and we need your help to put a stop to it. This will be a follow-up to the presentation he will be making to the students earlier that day. Also, Susan James will be here to give you information and answer questions about Google Docs. I know that several of you have questions and she is a great resource to share information with us. We will have the computer lab open that night following the presentations so that you can register your students for Google Docs (see article on Page 3 about signing the parent permission form), check out your children’s pages, or just explore the net. This is an important night and I hope you will make it a priority to attend. This will be geared towards 3,4,5th graders, but any CFT parents are welcome to attend.
Wanda Hennelly

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yearbook Volunteers Needed!
CFT has a great tradition of offering a yearbook for purchase at the end of each school year. We hope to continue that tradition again this year but need several parents to coordinate and create it! If you have an interest in this project, please contact Michelle at pdxbriggs@comcast.net soon!
Thank you to all the families who attended informance night. It was great seeing the kids teaching and interacting with their adult guests. You were inadvertently given the wrong scoring rubric for your child's report card. If your child receives a 4 they are at benchmark level on both the state and national levels.

Did you know there is third grade homework club every Tuesday in Mr. Arrieta-Walden’s classroom, Room 213? It is from 2:30 to 3:30, and parents are supposed to pick up kids in the lobby promptly afterward. Kids have to have turned in signed permission slips from their parents to participate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE!!! Please don't forget to sign the parent permission
form to allow your child (grades 3-12) to use Google Apps for Education at
school. Sign up HERE: http://www.ttsd.k12.or.us/google With this permission, students can
continue their work towards obtaining necessary educational technology skills
in the classroom and at home: demonstrate creativity, communicate and
collaborate, conduct research and use information, think critically and learn
to use technology effectively. For more information on Digital-Age
Learning, please see the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for
students (http://www.iste.org/standards/nets-for-students.aspx).
Thank you for your continued support of our schools, as is evident in the
passing of the May 2012 bond. Within this bond was dedicated funding for
technology across the District. This funding will allow students and teachers
to have greater access to technology resources and a stronger technology rich
education both now and in years to come. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
