MAY 2012... Our Learning in Photos

We spend this month looking at all that we eat! We have fruit salad to celebrate the hungry caterpillar. We have playdough pizza in the whisper room and real pizza that we make ourselves on Pizza Day. We are creating a treasure book all about a feast called Thanksgiving. We are reading and sharing all kinds of tales this month. The Shoemaker and the Elves will start us off and the Gingerbread Man will delight us. Watch for the fun and yummy December events. We will document all our learning here this month.

This month is filled with lots of learning opportunities. We will study all kinds of weather. We will read TONS of weather stories. We will have an indoor skating party! We will focus on good health and we will visit a real vet clinic! Our whisper room will be set up like a vet clinic and we will place REAL casts on stuffed animals! Watch for all the FUN photos!

February is filled with learning opportunity. We focus on our community helpers. We will visit the post office and fire station. We will have a dentist come to visit us. Amid all this excitement, we will have a LOVE-ly party for Valentine's Day and a BIG celebration for our 100th Day of School. Watch how all this learning factors into increased reading and writing for all of us! Watch how our 100th day increases our Math skills!

Our transportation studies are exciting. We research tons of vehicles. We do LOTS of science experiments. We make ramps for vehicles. We experiment with "sink' and "float". We create our own boats and sail them. We make parachutes. We go outside and take a traffic survey. Watch for pictures. They tell great stories!

We will learn everything about insects this month. We will use them in reading, math, science, art and song. You will LOVE learning right along with us!

This month we will sing for you during our insect concert on May 10th. We are also learning about the habitat..pond. We will study all the animals and their home this month. We will visit Brown's Ferry Pond on May 24th. We are making another Treasure Book and it will feature all our pond friends.
