Who Are We:

Educate Every Child.  The principal work of the Curriculum and Instruction Department is to assist teachers in facilitating exceptional academic and social progress for each and every student in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.

The primary responsibilities of the department include the organization and maintenance of the district’s comprehensive instructional program through 1) the alignment and articulation of the district curriculum and learning standards through recurring curricula renewal and materials adoption; 2) the provision and organization of focused staff development for principals, teachers and other licensed personnel, and classified staff; 3) the administration of the district’s student-focused academic and behavioral assessment systems; 4) the coordination of rigorous and ongoing school improvement efforts; and 5) the obtainment and management of federal, state and private grants that support the instructional progress of our students.

The professionals in the Tigard-Tualatin School District are extremely talented as evidenced by our students’ outcomes on state and national assessments, the positive and safe school and classroom environments that facilitate student learning, and the readiness of our students to take on more challenging and rigorous curricula each and every year.  Behind each of these significant and crucial successes are well-trained, progressive, and committed teaching professionals.  It is the Curriculum & Instruction Department’s responsibility to provide continuous opportunities for teachers to improve their instructional practices so each student experiences meaningful and personal growth towards their post-secondary goals.
