WSI & Lifeguard Classes
Lifeguard Training
Dec. 21-23 & Dec 28-31 9:30am - 1:30pm
- Register by calling the Tualatin Swim Center (503.431.5655)
Participants must:
- Be 15 years old
- Able to swim 500 yards using crawl stroke, side stroke, and breast stroke
- Tread water for 2 minutes
- Dive to 7 feet to retrieve a 10lb brick.
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
May 5 - June 4, 2010 3:00 - 5:00pm

This class is held at the Tualatin Swim Center and is offered afternoons in the early spring. In this class, participants learn the principles of teaching swim lessons according to the guidelines set by the American Red Cross. Prior experience in lifeguarding is desired, but not required.
Participants must:
- Be 17 years of age
- Complete a pre-test of water safety & knowledge
- Swim 500 yards continuously, using front crawl, breast stroke & sidestroke.
- Submerge to a depth of 7 ft., retrieve a 10 lb bring and return it to the surface
- Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.
