Welcome To The 2009-2010 School Year

The staff, students, and families at Metzger are exceptional.  For those of you new to the school, you will find it an open place where families feel comfortable and safe.  We have received the “Closing the Achievement Gap” award from the state for four consecutive years which should tell you that we take learning seriously. We make sure to have fun along the way which makes for a very positive environment.

Vision Statement

The mission of the staff at Metzger is to ensure that every child reach his or her potential. To accomplish this goal, each teacher will implement effective teaching practices to make every student successful in school. We believe in two very important concepts:

• Every child can learn
• Education decisions should be based on what is best for students

The major focus at Metzger will be on academic success. Recognizing that behavior, social and emotional issues contribute to a child's ability to perform in class; programs will be designed to promote success in those areas as well.

Awards

Metzger is proud to have been awarded "Green School" status by the Oregon Green Schools organization. We are working hard to reach the "Merit" and "Premier" levels!
