What is Title I?
Title I was started in the 1960’s under Lyndon Johnson as a federal law designed to help disadvantaged children. It has changed over the years and is now called, “No Child Left Behind.” District and schools qualify for the additional federal money based on the percentage of students in the district/school who are on free and reduced lunches. Children within a Title I school qualify for Title I serviced based on their achievement. There are six Title I schools in the Tigard-Tualatin School District: Bridgeport, CFT, Durham, Metzger, Templeton, and Tualatin.
