Letter to IB Exam Volunteers

Dear IB Parent volunteers!

We’re getting closer to opening day of IB exams. The May 2011 session begins Tuesday May 3rd

An IB supporter, Candace Carsh has set up for us a Google Doc page where exam dates, numbers of students along with proctoring and student snack needs are identified.  The link, https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AQCSjlucKZyIZGhqcWszcF8zMGhoZndrOGY1&authkey=CPWL6YkJ&hl=en
gets you to where you can indicate when and what you are able to help with.
Any help, no matter how small it might seem, is needed and appreciated.

With some several exam sessions involving anywhere from 40 to 60 plus students, assistant proctoring needs as well as snacks and beverages take on a new meaning, at least for me. Candace has created a calendar, found at the above link, where multiple parent volunteers can sign up and help share these challenges. Please feel free to join with other parents to share in meeting the needs of any particular exam day. If you wish and your situation permits, you may proctor AND bring snacks and/or drinks on the same day. If you are unable to provide time perhaps you might consider making a donation of snack or beverage components.

To sign up, just click on the above calendar link and then insert your name wherever you want to volunteer.   Feel free to contact me via phone or email if your have questions.

Lastly, on the days of 40 and 60+ students, I need the help of two assistant proctors. In some cases, we will be in two rooms, so this is essential. (IB requires that there be two proctors at every exam session, no matter how small the number of students testing.) Oh, and if you are coming to proctor, be sure to bring with you a good novel or some sort of quiet work in order to help pass the time.

As always, I thank you as much as is possible for your support and your cheerful willingness to help your/our IB students. This simply could not happen without you.

Thank you,

Ken Teschner
