* For the class of 2012: three credits
of inquiry based science, two of which must also have a lab component.
**For the class of 2014: three credits of Algebra 1 or higher.
Beginning in 2012, students must demonstrate proficiency in the Essential Skills of reading, mathematics, writing, and speaking to receive a high school diploma. The Essential Skills are versatile skills that students can use in a variety of academic and work-related tasks.
Students will have multiple options and opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency in the Essential Skills by meeting state standards through:
- The Oregon Statewide Assessments (OAKS);
- Samples of student work scored by trained teachers; or,
- Additional national standardized assessments (such as PLAN and ACT).
