Planning the Children’s Garden
- During the week of November 30-December 4 each class brainstormed activities they would like in their school garden. They drew plans for their ideal garden. Look for their drawings in the school hallways. They are full of imagination, color and great ideas. From these ideas, our school is working on a garden that will include edibles, a natural wildlife area and a butterfly garden.
- Our next steps are for a core group to meet and review the preliminary plans for the garden and begin thinking of ways to work towards a final design and implementation.
- You can get involved by contacting the Tualatin Elementary office. We will be having family work parties after the start of the New Year.
- Have Fun in the Garden!

THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who helped our Tualatin Elementary sustainable garden become a reality. The teachers, parents and community members on our committee have put so much time and energy into this project. We had a successful work party last weekend to build the flower and vegetable beds. We will have two more work parties on March 13th and 27th, so please join us! We would like to thank Pat Willis from OSU, Paul Taylor our garden designer, Troy Javernick of 3js landscape, Al’s garden center, the Aloha Garden club, Evie and George Andrews and Tualatin Starbucks for their generous donations of time and garden material.

Thank you again to all staff and families who came to help us with the planting of our garden. It looks beautiful and kids have loved seeing the changes! Thank you to the PTA and the families who donated soil and supplies. Please see our school website for our wishlist. If you have some gardening supplies you are no longer in need of, we might be able to use them in our garden.
