Child Services 1

Child Services is a change of pace class in which students have the opportunity to apply what they are learning as they work in our on-site preschool. Students interested in a career in the human resources area (teaching, medicine, psychology, etc.) will find a curriculum of human growth and development, guidance, and activities as teens participate in the teaching of young children. There is opportunity to earn credits through PCC.

Child Services 2

Students have the opportunity to enroll in Child Services for a second year and earn six PCC credits. Second year students run the afternoon Tualatin Teens and Tots business held during third block, with students taking responsibility for planning and implementing the curriculum for the children. Other duties include communicating and conferencing with parents, handling finances, keeping records and designing special evens such as field trips and holiday parties. Via an independent contract, students study pre-natal, infancy, toddler, and child development. Students have the opportunity to gain additional practicum experience during the class time by working at nearby schools and childcare facilities.
