WELCOME

SKI RACE PROGRAM:  To provide High School students an opportunity to compete in alpine ski racing competitions.  To develop and improve their skiing ability through training and participation.

Tualatin High School is one of thirteen schools within the 3Rivers Ski League.  These schools race in one memorial and six competition races.  The 3Rivers Ski League is one of seven leagues within the O.I.S.R.A. - Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association, the governing body for high school slalom and giant slalom alpine ski racing.  The top ranked teams and the top ranked individuals for both slalom and giant slalom, from each league, advance to the O.I.S.R.A. state championships.

Alpine ski racing unofficially begins Saturday, January 7^th, with the CATO Memorial Race at Timberline ski resort.  Timberline ski resort hosts this race in remembrance of Christine Cato and her love for skiing. 

The Cato family skis the mountain looking for team costumes and school spirit.  There is an awards presentation after a lunch social.

O.I.S.R.A. racing then continues every Saturday at 9:00 am for the next six weeks.  Races will be held at Mt. Hood Meadows, Ski Bowl East, or Ski Bowl West resorts ( see the 2012 race schedule to verify dates )  The alpine ski season finishes with the O.I.S.R.A. State Championships, February 29th through March 2 , 2012.   This year state will be held at Mt Hood Meadows.

Dry-land training is held at the High School from 3:10 – 4:40 pm. Training day TBD.  Mountain training is held on Thursday evening and children are usually finished and back by approximately 10:30 pm.  Head coach Paul Tollefson (Cascade Winter Sports Club) will lead the team with on snow training every Thursday weather/conditions permitting and guide the racers in preparation for racing their best!
