Brave New World
Auditorium
"Brave New World" is a play based on the book of the same name by Aldous
Huxley. We will be presenting it starting March 7th @ 3:30 p.m., then
the 8th-10th @ 7:30 p.m., and the same days and times the following
week. Admission is $9 for adults, $8 for students ($7 w/ASB), and $5 for
Senior Citizens and both matinees.
It is a story about a future
in which babies are grown in labs, and children are raised in a
factory-style environment that programs them to prepare to serve society
at pre-determined levels. The government provides drugs and a variety
of activities to keep the people complacent and happy. One of their
leaders discovers a young man who was raised outside the society on a
reservation, and he is brought back to be put on display for the
"civilized society." He finds it difficult to make the adjustment, and
his struggle mirrors our own quest to make sense of our modern world. It
is a chilling view of one potential future for our society that Mr.
Huxley first imagined after visiting America in 1928.
Please join us for this thought-provoking story of a future we all need to try to avoid.
